Our Mission
The Los Angeles Beirut Sister Cities Committee, was established in 2006, to create a bridge of understanding and friendship between Los Angeles and Beirut. Our aim is to create opportunities for business, educational, cultural and social exchanges so both cities may continue to prosper and build towards a bright future.
Our History
The Los Angeles Beirut Sister Cities Committee, a 501(c)(3), was established in 2006, to create a bridge of understanding and friendship between Los Angeles and Beirut. Sisterly ties were initiated on August 27, 2005 by former Los Angeles Council Member Dennis Zine and then Council President Eric Garcetti. Formal recognition was established in a signing ceremony at Nicholas Sursock Palace on June 30, 2006. Representing Beirut was Abdulmonem Al-Aris, Former President of the Beirut City Council, and former VP of the Beirut City Council, Tawfic Kfoury.
